Make your presentations easier for everyone to access and understand. In this interactive session for School of Medicine educators, participants will learn practical techniques for improving PowerPoint presentations for a wide range of learners, with School of Medicine-specific guidance. You’ll practice spotting and correcting common accessibility issues involving slide titles, reading order, meaningful links, images and alt text, color contrast, and lists, while exploring PowerPoint’s built-in accessibility tools. The focus is on manageable improvements that strengthen your presentations while building accessibility into your everyday workflow.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain how accessibility practices support users with a wide range of disabilities and learning needs
- Identify accessibility issues in PowerPoint slides
- Apply accessibility best practices for slide layout, text, links, images, and color
Part of the Accessibility in Action Series
The Department of Justice requires digital content to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act by April 2027. CLIME and SOMALT have partnered to offer this three-part series to help UW educators meet this requirement and create more inclusive learning environments. Each session stands on its own, and you can register for one or all three using the same form.
Other sessions in the series:
- Improving Word Documents for Every Learner: Friday, January 8, 2027
- Designing Pressbooks for Access and Understanding: Thursday, March 4, 2027
To request accommodations, please note your request on the registration form or contact clime@uw.edu at least 10 days before the session.
