Molly Jackson, MD
Professor, Medicine
Dr. Jackson is a general internist at the Roosevelt General Internal Medicine Clinic (GIMC) at UW in Seattle, a College faculty mentor, and the Assistant Dean for the Colleges for WWAMI / UWSOM. Her interests include teaching bedside clinical skills, professional identity formation, equity in teaching and health care, elevating the arts and humanities in medicine, creating community, and advancing a climate of belonging for patients, students, faculty and staff. She is passionate about learning communities in medicine; she is the past Chair and on the Board of Governors for the Learning Communities Institute (LCI).
Coaching vs. Mentoring vs. Advising
This session helps educators understand the differences between coaching, mentoring and advising engagement with learners, and discusses the philosophy and basic skill set needed to be successful wearing each of these "hats"
Coaching Medical Students
Provides an introduction to coaching for medical students, an understanding of how coaching differs from mentoring and advising, and case-based interactive practice to build coaching skills for physician educators. Can be done in a 60 min short session or a 90-120 minute more in-depth / interactive session and can be tailored to the level of educator and learner.
Understanding and Nurturing Professional Identity Formation in MD students and physicians
An overview of professional identity formation and values integration, an overview of curricular approaches to PIF used in MD programs, and shares tips and pearls for how physician educators can support PIF in their medical student and resident learners
Medical School in 3 Poems: Reflection in Community to Promote Professional Identity Formation
This 60-90 minute interactive session provides a brief overview of professional identity formation, then introduces poems to prompt participants towards reflection and sharing in small groups around emergent themes of personal and professional identity. This session can be successful with mixed groups (students, residents, faculty) and often creates community and connection in participants.
(Im)Printed: supporting professional identity and community connection through self-reflection and art making
Provides an overview of professional identity formation, then uses self-reflection and art making with the use of a hands-on linocut carving and printing workshop to promote introspection, reflection, sharing, and connection. This is a 120 min session, and benefits from 2 faculty presenters to assist with printmaking (I have co-presenters I can bring who have expertise)

This session provides an evidence-based overview of the experience of "sense of belonging", and how we can create and advance a sense of belonging in groups and on teams
