  1. Be timely with written feedback
  2. Consider the learning outcomes and expectations of both the program and the learner
  3. Begin with a brief summary
  4. Focus on no more than three areas of improvement
  5. Include reasonable detail for the learner to act on
  6. Echo what has already been discussed verbally
  7. Create a balance between appreciating, coaching and evaluating
  8. Suggest a plan for improvement with the learner
