SUMMARY:CLIME Work in Progress: Advancing Diabetes Competency in Physical Therapy: A National Study of Doctor of Physical Therapy Education
DESCRIPTION:CLIME Time: Theory\, Innovation\, Methods in Medical Education\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Kathleen Cummer\, PT\, DPT\, PhD \nDespite physical therapists’ recognized role in diabetes self-management\, diabetes-specific content is not required in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curricula\, and research shows many practicing PTs lack adequate diabetes knowledge. This mixed-methods study surveys U.S. DPT programs and interviews program directors to assess current diabetes education and identify curricular gaps. Findings will inform the development of targeted educational modules to strengthen diabetes training for future and practicing clinicians.Date and TimeThursday\, January 21\, 202710:00am-11:00pm (AK)\, 11:00pm-12:00pm (PT)\, 2:00pm-3:00pm (MT)Zoom (Link will be in Confirmation Email) \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration: CLIME Work in Progress: Advancing Diabetes Competency in Physical Therapy

Using data from 29 medical trainees\, the team will compare trajectory scores to expert video review\, refine the scoring algorithm to improve correlation\, and apply the optimized algorithm to new trainee data from a July 2026 bootcamp. Results aim to establish a cost-effective\, objective method for real-time feedback in FNL simulation training.Date and TimeFriday\, March 12\, 202711:00am-12:00pm (AK)\, 12:00pm-1:00pm (PT)\, 1:00pm-2:00pm (MT)Zoom (Link will be in Confirmation Email) \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration: CLIME WIP: Assessing the Validity of Automated Scoring in Nasolaryngoscopy Simulation

SUMMARY:CLIME Work in Progress: Building Expertise of UW Rehabilitation Medicine Professionals in Adaptive Sports
DESCRIPTION:CLIME Time: Theory\, Innovation\, Methods in Medical Education\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jelena Svircev\, MD\, Sue Spaulding\, MS\, L/CPO\, FAAOP & Elizabeth Scriven\, PsyD \nPhysical activity is vital for everyone’s health and well-being\, including individuals living with physical or mental disabilities. Yet for many people with disabilities who participate in sports\, standard care isn’t enough. They often need individualized modifications or specialized equipment to participate\, which is the domain of adaptive sports medicine. Despite this need\, adaptive sports content is rarely integrated into rehabilitation medicine training\, leaving gaps in both knowledge and clinical care. \nThis project aims to address that gap by developing a comprehensive Adaptive Sports Program within UW Rehabilitation Medicine. The program will focus on three goals: creating dedicated adaptive sports curriculum\, establishing sustainable partnerships with local adaptive sports organizations\, and increasing awareness of Rehabilitation Medicine services among adaptive athletes and their communities. The program will be designed and evaluated using established implementation science frameworks to ensure it is effective\, sustainable\, and scalable\, ultimately building lasting expertise among UW Rehabilitation Medicine clinicians\, faculty\, and graduates.Date and TimeThursday\, April 22\, 20271:00pm-2:00pm (AK)\, 2:00pm-3:00pm (PT)\, 3:00pm-4:00pm (MT)Zoom (Link will be in Confirmation Email) \n \n \n \n \n \n Registration: CLIME Work in Progress: Building Expertise of UW Rehab Medicine Professionals in Adaptive Sports
